Tri-County Horseman’s Association – Milan Rules

 

1.       T.C.H.A. rules state that hats are to be worn in competition and safety helmets WITH STRAPS are to be worn in English classes.  IF YOU DO NOT HAVE A STRAP THE JUDGE WILL DISQUALIFY YOU FROM THE CLASS.

2.       The age that participant is on January 1st of the showing year is the stated age on entry form and membership. 

3.       Michigan 4-H rules will apply as guidelines unless otherwise stated in T.C.H.A. rules.

4.       N.S.B.A. Rules will apply to Junior Horse Classes.  Junior Horse is a horse 5 years and younger.

5.       STALLIONS are to be shown by ADULTS ONLY  (18 years and older.)

6.       Grand and Reserve Halter will consist of first and second place horse/ponies from class 1-6.

7.       LEAD LINE exhibitors are not eligible for any other class group and are exempt from Grounds and Office Fees. (AGES 8 & Under)

8.       To be eligible for WALK-TROT Year End Points, a rider must never have exhibited in a 3-gaited class (walk, trot, and canter) at a T.C.H.A. approved show and must meet the age requirements, if observed by Board Director riding on T.C.H.A. grounds in a 3 gaited stride you will be required to ride in a 3 gaited class from that point on and points will be accumulated at that age/class.  We appreciate your honesty and respect your integrity.

9.       If riding in WALK TROT classes the exhibitor or the horse must be at Walk Trot level to exhibit and accumulate daily points. 

10.    A rider may not ride in Walk-Trot and be judged if he/she is riding in any other gaited class.  Once a rider does ride in class other than Walk-Trot they will not be judged in a walk-trot class. It is the responsibility of the rider to inform the board/judge prior to entering class if they are not to be judged!

11.    NOVICE 1ST YEAR LOPER is for the 1st year that a RIDER is loping.  This is a 1 year transistion class.

12.    An exhibitor riding in NOVICE 1st YEAR LOPER may ride in another age loping class but wll not accumulate points in the age loping class.

13.    TRAIL CLASSES – if rider is Walk Trotter they are to Walk/Trot and not lope in any pattern as posted.

14.    Exhibitors can get their Trail Pattern results at the next show.  Please do not request your sheets until the next show date.

15.    * Leadline Trail is to aquaint a Leadliner ONLY to the trail obsticles.  This is the only Trail class that will allow the horse or rider to be lead through the obsticles.  This class is not eligiable for Daily Points.

16.    T.C.H.A. would like that all youth (10 and under) ride in Walk-Trot Trail for safety reasons.  This is the discreation of the parent.

17.    All Exhibitors must have a current year negative Coggins or ELISA test to exhibit at TCHA-Milan shows.

18.    There will be a $2.00 Grounds Fee per exhibitor.  All Non-Members will pay a $2.00 Office Fee at each T.C.H.A. Show.  This cost will cover back number.

19.    Lead Line Exhibitors DO NOT pay grounds or Office Fees.

20.    $25.00 RIDE ALL DAY FEE is for T.C.H.A. Members ONLY.  The ride all day fee does not include Halter, Jackpot or Junior Horse classes.

21.    T.C.H.A. members are automatically included in Daily High Point, non-members MUST pay $2.00 fee if they would like to participate..

22.    Daily High Point and Year-End Awards are based on ONE HORSE/ONE RIDER combination.  Exceptions:   1) Halter Horse-points go to the horse and any Year-End points go to the Owner.   2) Lead Line-points go to the rider and any Year-End Awards go to the rider. 

23.    High Point and Year-End ties WILL be broken by most 1st, 2nd, and so on… 

24.    If there is a tie for Daily High Point, all else being equal, tie-breakers may include: a ride off, horse knowledge questions and/or any other steps the Board of Directors feel necessary.

25.    T.C.H.A. Membership is required for eligibility of  “Year End Awards”.  Points will not be counted until membership is paid.  You MUST show in the same class (2) two times to be eligible for Year-End Awards.

26.    Year End Award is based on ONE HORSE/ONE RIDER COMBINATION the points include: Showmanship, English, Western, and Trail classes. The following are excluded in point totals: Halter, Pony, Jackpot and Jr. Horse classes.

27.    Class with an asterisk (*) Halter, Junior Horse and Jackpot DO NOT count towards Daily High Point.

28.    Class closes when the previous class exits the ring and the gate is closed.  NO Exceptions.

29.    Classes with less than four (4) entries will be combined or canceled at the Boards discretion.  Exceptions are Lead Line and Walk-Trot.

30.    If an exhibitor has a question for the judge they need to go through a board member or ask the booth helpers.  The judge will answer questions when available.  Do not interrupt during classes or approach judge prior to speaking to a show representative.

31.    The judge may disqualify an exhibitor or rider based on safety in the arena, equipment, and/or soundness of the horse.

32.    The Judge’s and the Board’s decision is FINAL.

33.    Tack changes are limited to 3 minutes and the Booth needs to be informed at least 3 classes before needed change.

34.    NO REFUNDS or vouchers will be given.  It is the responsibly of the exhibitor to make it to their classes on time.

35.    Class drops  must be at least 3 classes before the class signed up for.  This must be done at the booth not at the gate.

36.    All dogs must be under control of a handler i.e. restrainted with a leash, prohibited from entering the arena or wondering the grounds unattended.  This will result in a board member requesting that the animal be “put away” for it’s own safety and the safety of others.
